Rhodesian Postcards: Government House Bulawayo

These 2 old postcards were early prints and had on the back the postage
position marked as "Postage : Inland halfpenny, Overseas One Penny"

Thanks to Diarmid Smith for sharing his memories with ORAFs.

This is so interesting, thanks for sharing.

I've got heaps of Africana/Rhodesiana as I have been collecting for years. I have also written a dissertation on the early days in Rhodesia (from 1908) as that is when my family first arrived in Southern Rhodesia.

I live in Australia now, have done since 1982.

Thanks Eddy, I remember Government House in Bulawayo well. Whilst a member of SB Bulawayo in circa 1970, I was assigned as close security to the late Hon J.J. Wrathall and would regularly escort he and his wife from Government House to functions in and around Bulawayo. This sometimes included going shopping with them! I was occasionally invited back to Government House to have lunch with them, and they were always absolutely charming towards my wife and I. I enjoyed those days and treasure the memories.

Kind regards

Hi, someone in a post if mine on Facebook came across this link, due to me posting that I have a very large copy of this photo and I wanted to find out more, I'm based in Brighton England and found the picture in the back of a carpenters drawing of a mortice joint. May have connections the Brighton College? If you have any more info or if you know where I could return this find too would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
